When the New York Times announced that they were going to offer all of their content for free, I wasn’t sure how many people would care. Apparently, a lot; the previously paywalled columnists are becoming permanent fixtures in the list of most e-mailed articles. I glanced at it today and saw this:

I was surprised to see three columns make the top five; before columns were freed, it was rare for even one or two little TimesSelect logos to appear on the entire list. Now, it’s rare for two opinion pieces not to be on the list. I thought it interesting that, given the ability to read every article, infographic, photo series, column, etc., that the Times has ever published, people most prefer to send each other someone else’s opinion. (I fully admit that I enjoy reading them as much as everyone else does.)

Danny’s back, which is nice. Fall quarter keeps with tradition by trumping Spring quarter of last year as the most ridiculously fast quarter I’ve had yet. (Random interjection–I just had the strongest desire to play bid euchre.) Somehow, it’s already fourth week. My days consist of lots of time spent on campus (plus the time spent to get to and from campus), a perpetual to-do list of homework and reading that I can’t/don’t quite manage to keep up with, time spent doing webjob work, and time spent looking for future employment. Permutations of those basic elements, 7 days a week. It’s making me a little crazy. Oh, you lucky graduates, who can now reminisce fondly(/deludedly) of your senior year of college.
