Moving is so much work. I love the new place, though. Pictures soon.
Danny and I picked up a petite 10-foot U-Haul at noon yesterday, then returned to Ikea. There, we found all the flat-pack boxes for the furniture we picked out last week, paid (ouch, even at Ikea prices), got it in the truck, and got back to the5509 around 3. We loaded up our pre-packed boxes and furniture despite a drizzling rain, and made the rush-hour commute up to Lakeview.
We arrived at the new place at 6:30, parked the truck in the extra space off the driveway, and turned on the hazards. We alternated between hauling stuff up (via elevator, thank god), putting some furniture together and in place, and hauling more stuff up. We finally finished emptying the truck around 9:45, so we got ready to return it.
But it wouldn’t start. Apparently, a few hours with the hazards on was enough to kill the battery of the 170,000 mile old truck. We finally flagged some people down and got it started, returned the truck, got Giordano’s to celebrate moving in, and built some more of our furniture.
Ahh another (but last!) final in just a few days.
